Ashton 20ish Month Pics

We wrapped up the final session of our photo package in September at a local park.   It may have been the last really warm day we had this fall, so we totally lucked out.  Ashton wasn't entirely in the mood to have his picture taken but our photographer worked her magic and got some really great pics.  She really does make it look easy!  We've already signed up with her to capture our little bean's development also.

Apple Picking

We had grand plans to go apple picking at a farm this fall but when a neighbor offered to let us pick apples from the tree in their yard, we jumped on the opportunity.  Ashton loved it!  The only trouble is that every time we pass their house now, he wants to go back for more.  :)

I am WAY behind on my blog updates!  Chalk it up to what a wonderful time we had on vacation and the hundreds of pics I've been trying to whittle down.  In any event, I'm playing catch up now.

This year, we decided to change things up with a family vacation to northern Michigan.  We stayed in Glen Arbor, a small town part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.  What an amazing place!  A little slice of heaven.  We rented a house on Lake Michigan, which is crystal clear and turquoise blue like the Caribbean Sea and looks just as expansive.  There were 9 of us plus Ashton – Jeff and I, Grammy & Grandad, Grandma Nat & Grandaddy, Pop Pop and Aunt Erin and Uncle Josh.  We had an amazing time exploring the area and local towns, visiting the national park, climbing the dunes, kayaking (Ashton came along for the ride!), paddle boarding, rock collecting,  swimming in the lake, making campfires on the beach and just relaxing.

Ashton LOVED the beach – I mean LOVED LOVED LOVED!  He would wake up and say ‘Beach, Fun, Outside’ almost immediately.  He especially enjoyed throwing rocks in the water, jumping waves and playing in the sand.  You literally couldn’t take him down to the beach without him coming back soaking wet.  He got bolder and bolder as the week went on and ultimately ended up wanting to wade into the water by himself, no hand holding for him!  I don’t know that I’ve ever seen him happier and for that reason alone, we will be back again!

Ashton even uttered his first sentence during the week…’Thank you, Da’ (Daddy). :)
