Xmas tree

With a late Thanksgiving, Ashton's 2nd bday party and Baby T2's pending arrival, we found ourselves short on time this year to make our annual trip to cut a tree down for Christmas.  Instead, we headed to a local nursery and picked a tree - if you read last year's post, this may have been just as well!  ;)

Turkey day

This year we spent Thanksgiving in VA with Grandma Nat and Granddaddy Chuck. We considered flying but ultimately decided to make the 10 hour drive instead. It turned out just as well given the storm that hit the East coast that week. On the way down though, we decided to get a hotel room and take a break. This was something of an event in itself - Ashton loved the hotel!! He had so much fun jumping on the bed, watching tv and having a breakfast picnic.

Thanksgiving day was full of family fun and yummy food.  Ashton got to hang out with his cousins, Eric and Caden, and they happily shared their favorite trucks and cars and even introduced him to an iPad.  We also took a trip to the VA Children's Museum, which was great, and checked out the new play center at the mall one day. 

Best of all though, Ashton got to spend lots of time with his grandparents, Uncle Chris and even Grandpa Leonard.

Holy leaves!

We have a giant pin oak in the backyard, which we love 99% of the time.  The 1% of the time that we don't is when all of its leaves come tumbling down every fall. Fortunately, we now have a great little helper in Ashton.  

Side note - in the town that we live, you don't have to bag leaves, you just rake them to the curb and a giant machine comes and sucks them up!

Aunt Ern Comes to CLE

Aunt Ern (as Ashton lovingly refers to her) came to visit last month for the weekend.  We had a great time eating out, taking Ashton to his swim class and relaxing at home. She was a huge help entertaining Ashton while we picked up some stuff for the Bean at Babies R Us. To top off the weekend, she surprised me with a spa day on Sunday!  SO nice and such a nice treat. Love her!
