DE meet and greet

We traveled back to Delaware last month to introduce Elise to the fam.  We had a wonderful trip and it actually wasn't as crazy as usual.  (I found out that I had shingles days before we were leaving so I had to cancel a few outings.)

We spent lots of quality time hanging out with Grammy, Granddad, Pop Pop, Aunt Ern & Uncle Josh.  We also had fun at the park with Aunt Anna, Drew, Sara and Ava - Ashton's friends as he calls them.  We also hung out with my friend, Goldie, and her girls.  She was something of a baby whisper with Elise and totally impressed Ashton as they have a bounce house in their basement...for real!

Elise's 2 Month Check Up

Elise got a clean bill of health from the doctor at her 2 month check up.  She's still a little bean at 9lbs 2oz (10th percentile) and measuring 22 inches long (50th percentile).  The poor little gal has had some belly issues though making for some challenging times in the Taylor house.  I'm happy to report that she seems to have outgrown these recently, as the Dr said she would.  She is now back to being her sweet little self, smiling and cooing.  Our babysitter even called her 'a dream'!  We love you, sweet Elise, and your big brother can't wait to play together.

Finally, a nice day!

Ashton is seriously ready for spring!

Early days with Elise

Elise's first month was mix of new baby bliss and sleep deprivation. We've also discovered that, when it comes to children, one plus one most definitely does not equal two.  :)  Elise is following in her brother's footsteps...at her one month check up she was in the 50th percentile for length at 21 inches and 10th percentile at 7 lbs 11 oz for weight.  She is such a sweet little bean!

Some of my favorite photos from the early days are included below.

Bath time

Elise's first bath was a family affair.  Ashton was very excited and really wanted to help.  Elise didn't love the water at first but once we added extra warm water, she calmed down and seemed to enjoy it.

Ashton's 1st Shiner :(

Last week, I had both kiddos myself for the first night.  Everything was going great until Ashton took a header off the couch into the coffee table.  Ouch!  Poor little buddy.  I knew as soon as he did it that a shiner was likely...well, a proper shiner it was.

P.S. - I think all other caregivers were secretly (or not so secretly) happy that this happened on my 'watch' and not theirs!

Just after it happened - I took this pic to send to Jeff at the hospital to make sure he didn't think we needed to come in.

Saddest face EVER.

Three days later...shiner in all its glory

You should have seen the other guy!
