Long Live the Baby Mullet

It was brought to my attention over the holidays that Ashton was developing something of a baby mullet.  As his mama, I found this very endearing and loved his long hair.  After much counsel, I was conviced that he could use a trim.  So, alas, against my better judgement, Ashton got his first haircut.

He did great! The woman was so nice, waiting for me to get there (I was running late after work) and she put him right at ease.  He still looks as cute as ever of course but I’m sad to say, a tad older.  Sniff, sniff.

Oh no!  Where did my trademark locks go?

Promise it will grow back?

The final step...the hair dryer.  He wasn't a huge fan.

Holiday Round Up

Better late than never I hope - I wanted to share the remainder of our holiday pics.  After Ashton's party, my mom, sister and Josh hung around for a few extra days.  It was was nice to have some R&R with them after the holiday/party craziness.  We checked out a few local watering holes (thanks for babysitting Grammy!) and genuinely had fun just loving up on Ashton.  You can't spoil a child with love, right?  Let's hope so!  He's a very loved and lucky little boy.

First Snowfall

We took a quick trip outside to enjoy Ashton’s first REAL snowfall.  Grandma Nat made the excellent suggestion to use his baby tub as a sled and it worked like a charm!  I’m still not sure that he knew what to make of it all but Jeff and I had fun wheeling him around the back yard. :)

Ashton's First Bday Party

We had a wonderful time at Ashton’s first birthday.  Grammy, Aunt Erin and Uncle Josh traveled to Cleveland to help celebrate his big day.  It was a dog theme in honor of Ashton’s love of his furry friends, complete with chili cheese dogs, pupcorn and a dog cake.  Since Jeff had to work all weekend, we had the party on a Friday night, which I recognize isn’t probably standard for a 1st birthday party.  Ashton is a night owl though (don’t know where he got that?!? ;D), so it worked out just fine and everyone had a dog gone good time.  (You know I love my cheesy puns!)

Ashton loved all of the attention and devoured his first hot dog.  He literally ate the WHOLE dog!  He also liked his cake but actually didn’t go as crazy as I was expecting.  He did manage to coat Jeff and I with some icing when he decided to ‘share’, which was quite entertaining to the party goers.

We have such amazing family and friends and we thank them all for helping us to celebrate our little man’s first year.  Oh and I’m pretty sure his toy collection has tripled!

Ashton Turns One

We celebrated Ashton’s official first bday surrounded by family including Grandma Nat, Grandaddy, Grammy, Aunt Erin and Uncle Josh.  After all of the holiday home cooking, we decided to get takeout for dinner– because afterall, nothing says happy first birthday like takeout Indian food!

Ashton loved the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan and was even a good sport when I gave him a bit of the eggplant, which turned out to be a tad hotter than I thought.  Ooops!  For dessert,  we sang happy bday and oohed and ahhhed over him while he batted around his bday cupcake.

We love you, Ashton Trex!
